The Cat S60 is a unique Smartphone. Just take a look at the rugged design. It was made like that for a reason. The Smartphone is strong and comes with various protective features.
When it comes to design, the Smartphone looks like nothing else. It stays away from mainstream designs although we can still recognize it as an Android phone. The most prominent part of the design is the ruggedized body. This will not appeal all buyers considering most phones don’t look like that, but if you find it tempting, then good for you. This construction is apparently durable and tough. It can survive underwater at 5 meters depth for an hour. It is also not easy to break due to the metal construction. Besides, it can survive low and high temperatures. In other words, it can guard itself against weather conditions, including rain, humidity, solar radiation, salt, and others.
You may assume that the design is the most essential part of the Cat S60, but it is not true. The display, for instance, looks very bright and comes with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is measured at 4.7-inch. Even with all the protection, it manages to be touch-sensitive. It is not just bare hands, but the display can also respond to gloved fingers. 5-inch screens have become the norm these days. Many people won’t bother checking Smartphones with smaller screens, but the screen of this phone doesn’t feel cramped at all. The resolution is 720p, again not the best in the industry. However, if you want a device that can withstand all kinds of abuse, the Cat S60 is what you need. The colors are pretty good and the maximum brightness is surprisingly high, so it is usable outdoors.
The Cat S60 offers a dual camera setup. The first one is a 13MP sensor, while the other one is a Flir’s Lepton sensor. The captures look average, but this shouldn’t come as a surprise because it is not branded as a high-end camera phone. As long as there is enough light, the camera produces pretty good shots. Meanwhile, the Dynamic Range is pretty limited, so it tends to cause a loss in details especially when you point the sensor at bright objects. On the front there is a 5-megapixel camera. Since the device is waterproof, you can take selfies underwater, too.
The Android phone is reliable for day-to-day use, no wonder because it is equipped with a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. As for internal storage, it amounts to 32GB. As a utilitarian phone, these specs were pretty decent. It runs smoothly, but you have to skip gaming because it can slow down the performance. Loading apps can take time, like when booting up the thermal camera. This is a unique feature that lets you take photos along with their temperature readings. There is a 3,800mAh battery below the cover. It is actually big for the specs and can last up to 2 days. Android Marshmallow runs on this device, so you can get all the customizations that the new version has to offer. With all the features offered, does the Cat S60 interest you?
